OUR HISTORY: The Wesleyan church was born in the 19th century revivalism where our people “got blessed” were “slain in the Spirit” and “ran the aisles” during camp meeting and revival services—we are familiar with the “moving of the Spirit” in our denomination. Our roots are deep in expecting a touch from God. For years we were derisively called “holy rollers” due to our emotional exuberance. In fact one of the two major denominations that merged to become The Wesleyan Church in 1968 used to have “Pentecostal” in their actual denominational name. If you’re a Charismatic you’ll love The Wesleyan Church—we’re exactly who you hope we are!
