The decade 2000-2010
Since 2000 lots has changed in electronics and
communication. My short list includes…
Blogs—we can all become writers.
Print-on-demand—we can all become publishers.
Youtube—we can become broadcasters.
Cell phones—we are never alone.
Blackberries—we can be on duty 24-7.
Facebook—we can now can have a thousand “friends.”
Digital cameras—we can take a thousand photos this evening for a penny.
Google/ Wikipedia —we no longer need to remember anything.
GPS—we no longer need to ask directions.
Google Earth—we can travel without going anywhere.
HD—we can see the ball on TV
iPods—we don’t need to hear music we don’t like.
Netflix—we can watch a movie
Texting—our children’s peer group is always with them.
Twitter—we can now tell our followers, “I’m hungry”
Wii—we can ski without breaking a leg.
These electronic and communication changes are interesting but not what I really care about. Some make life easier, others are already laughable and even already passé. What I’m pondering is this: What are the equivalent changes in the church since 2000?
So what do you think?
