“FUTURE” EUTYCHUS REPORTS

 

I’m always wondering what Eutychus might report on next from the future.  I’ve finally broken down and brainstormed (or rather, gathered thoughts I already had) on what he might write 40 years from now.  (E-mail Eutychus at [email protected] if you’d like to throw in your 2 cents support for one of these, or to pass on extra ideas)

POSSIBLE FUTURE ARTICLES BRAINSTORMING:

Ø      21^ST CENTURY CATHEDRALS - Eutychus visits a cathedral in Scotland—and realizes that US churches aren’t much different “now” than the way he viewed European cathedrals when he was younger.

Ø      PREACHING TO THE POMO CHOIR – An indictment of “Emerging Church” types simply speaking to themselves for years on end.  An expose on how a few postmodern types (his friends) simply retreated into emerging discussion instead of doing real life ministry.

Ø      ON 50 YEARS OF THE WRITER’S LIFE – A description of his own journey in writing for on-line magazines, brick-and-mortar publishers, his church and his family.

Ø      DENOMINATIONAL DEAD ZONE – The long-foreseen deaths of denominations in the 2030s and 40s

Ø      RETIRING POSTMODERN MINISTERS – Visiting a reception for a retiring postmodern minister… what his life-long ministry was like.

Ø      THE BABY AND THE BATHWATER – Ten things we threw out of church that I miss in the 2040s

Ø      CHANGES THAT SNUCK UP ON ME – Changes in church and culture that caught most of us off-guard

Ø      THE MORE THINGS CHANGE – The more they stay the same: things that still haven’t changed in church life – and likely never will.

Ø      THE MOVIES THAT SHAPED US – Looking back at the movies from the last century that impact us 40 years later
